Scouts

As Sea Scouts, we are members of the international Scouting movement, with a particular emphasis on water-based activities, including swimming, snorkelling, lifeguard work, boardsailing, kayaking, canoeing, sailing and rowing.

The unit is for boys and girls, aged 10 to 16, and provides hands on opportunities to sail, cruise on boats, and learn navigation, in addition to the normal scouting activites of camping, hiking, and other bush-craft.

Our group aims to encourage the physical, mental, social and spiritual development of young people so that they may contribute to the development of themselves and to the community they live in.

Meeting Times
We meet every Thursday night during schoold terms at our "Ship" across from Waiake Beach in Torbay.
  • Winter:   18:30 to 20:30
  • Summer: 18:30 to 21:00

RacingSailing regattas are held throughout New Zealand and we will attempt to attend at least one per term.  Coaching sessions are run on alternate weekends.  Registration and attendance at the sessions are required to take part in the program.
